About TO:KY:OO

Liam Wong's monograph is an exploration of Tokyo at night. The big city's nocturnal streetscapes are illuminated by a vibrating light, full of colour and purely breathtaking. In fact, when you're looking at the photographs you may catch yourself thinking: "Are these real photographs from the streets of a real city or is this some sort of altered reality?". Because in all honesty, Wong's photographs look a lot more like CGI than real photographs. And don't get us wrong, we think that's a plus! Wong's cityscapes remind the viewer not so much of present days, but more of a dystopian futuristic setting such as the ones from the cyberpunk genre or even video games. The images are vivid, timeless and impactful. Skilfully designed by Wong himself, these books could be seen as a testimony to the art of colour composition. And as if the photographs aren't enough to convince you to get it, the book also features invaluable insights into Wong's creative and technical process.
