About
Saul Leiter a pioneer of colour photography and a master of framing—played with the pictorial through multiplicity and reflections in New York during the second half of the 20th century.
From the 1950s he shot on the streets of New York with an a painters eye. He composed with colour film film, often Kodachrome and also sometimes black and white, creating images with elements of abstraction. In this book frames are layered within frame with others in full bleed and in the centre is a reproduction of a a 1989 issue of the magazine Six published by Comme de Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo who gave Leiter creative carte blanche.
